statement of purpose
* to inspire *
With the budget cuts facing public schools, art programs have been cut back or eliminated in too many places over the past decade. There is an ever present need for alternative arts programs for children. There are published statistics showing that art education creates opportunities, even for children who don’t go on to pursue a career in art, through the development of conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills that are indispensable in the workforce.
I aspire to have the opportunity to inspire children to experiment and create; To learn throughout the process; To push themselves to try things they’ve never done or that they may not feel they are good at. I hope to help inspire a child to follow their passion for art, helping them to discover the many creative career paths that are available and what it takes to follow them, as well as to inspire a student that may not want to follow an artistic path or has a passion for something else. I hope to be able to inspire children’s potential to learn and grow.
